Interventional Radiologists (IRs) are specialist doctors who are experts in minimally invasive treatments of many conditions that affect every organ of the body. They use the latest imaging technology including x-rays, ultrasound and MRI to direct treatment right to where it is needed either through the skin or using small tubes placed into the blood vessels.
In Australia, Interventional Radiology is now a comprehensive clinical sub-specialty of Radiology with extensive training and credentialing requirements.
In addition to 5 years of post graduate training in Radiology, IRs now undergo a further 2-3 years of fellowship training and have to be certified with the European Board of Interventional Radiology (EBIR), the credentialing body for the Interventional Radiology Society of Australasia.
Dr Robertson was one of the first IRs in Australia to obtain the EBIR.
At Sunshine Coast Endovascular, Dr Robertson provides a comprehensive clinical service with complete before and after care for his patients. He has admitting rights at Buderim Private Hospital where, along with a specialist team of highly trained nurses, he provides total patient care.
